Haiti Communitere Operations Director

Position Type: Full time

Location: Port-au-Prince, Haiti

Start Date: May 15th, 2017

About the Role

The responsibilities of the Operations Director are outlined below. This is an oversight and management role that reports directly to the Country Director.  The ideal candidate would have experience in human resources, monitoring and evaluation systems, social enterprise business structures and team building and leadership development within a diverse group or environment. You MUST be fully fluent in spoken and written English, and willing to learn Kreyol.  Ability in Kreyol and/or French is a plus.

The position requires a minimum one year commitment; two years preferred.  A normal work week runs anywhere from 40-60 hours; depending on how well you manage your time in this dynamic environment. Weekend trips and long breaks are encouraged every 90 days.  Private room and board provided, and a monthly stipend is to be negotiated.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Work with local Base Manager to implement and enforce tracking systems
  • Physical Resource Tracking Systems
  • Base Use Tracking
  • Community Outreach and Network Tracking
  • Provide monthly reports to Country Director, Local Board, and Advisory Team

General Accounting

  • Managing Partner, Member, Tenant, and User Accounts
  • Augment and Enforce Rental Agreements (late fees, discounts, etc.)
  • Working with our Office Manager to bolster financial tracking systems and provide weekly/monthly reports
  • Work with Office Manager manage and control expenses

HC Management

  • Identify and increase revenue generating services provided by HC
  • Capacity building with local management team and staff
  • Lead a culture of proactive problem solving
  • Manage on-base and local relationships with a keen eye for networking organizations
  • Promote capacity building with community groups through skills training and workshops

Public Relations

  • Update social media and work with Hospitality Volunteer to implement communication strategies (marketing, social media, local campaigns)
  • Market HC services to local businesses and organizations
  • Connect with international and local organizations to find new partners, members, and projects
  • Report to Community Round Table(Tab Wond) about base happenings
  • Communicate with local and international organizations to foster a network of parties interested in locally based, long-term sustainable development in Haiti.

Personal Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a dynamic team
  • A broad scope of international travel and intercultural communication a plus
  • The ability to bring concepts of programs to fruition
  • Experience managing budgets and producing financial reports on a regular basis
  • Resourcefulness in approach of sustainable problem solving
